The security forces launched a pre-investigation check under the article on inciting hatred or enmity (Article 282 of the Criminal Code) against a participant in the rally on August 31, 2019 in Moscow. This is written in the telegram channel Baza.
According to Baza, the reason for the check was a video from a protest action for fair elections and against political repression, which took place on August 31, 2019 in Moscow. The unknown in the video, whom the telegram channel calls Yevgeny Kikeev, says: “A **** are you standing and silent then? ... It should be like in Ukraine ... "
The authors of Baza believe that a man can become a new defendant in the "Moscow case".
- This is not the only case when the Baza telegram channel was one of the first to publish information about politically motivated persecution and disseminate data that only law enforcement officers have access to. In 2019, Baza was the first to write about the arrest and imminent arrest of Pavel Novikov, a defendant in the Moscow case, who was charged with assaulting a police officer at one of the summer protests.
- On July 27, 2019, an uncoordinated action took place in Moscow in support of unregistered candidates for the Moscow City Duma. It detained at least 1373 people. After the action, criminal cases were opened under articles on mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence against government officials (Article 318 of the Criminal Code).
- A case under Article 318 was also initiated against a participant in the action, which took place a week later, on August 3. Actor Pavel Ustinov, who, according to his own words, happened to be at the scene of the action by accident, was first sentenced to three and a half years in prison, but after the case received wide public outcry, the sentence was changed to a year of probation.
