The court decided to leave a Jehovah's Witness, who is a Danish citizen, in the colony

Update: The Kursk Regional Court rejected the appeal against Christensen's denial of parole. This was reported on the website of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

The Lgovsky District Court of the Kursk Region refused to satisfy the petition to replace the unserved part of the sentence with a fine for Jehovah's Witness Dennis Christensen. This was reported by the press service of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

The court considered the believer’s petition a second time and based its decision on Christensen’s refusal to work in the colony. The prisoner himself claims that this type of activity is contraindicated for him due to health reasons.

On June 23, the same court decided to release Jehovah's Witness from the colony, replacing the unserved sentence in the colony with a fine of 400 thousand rubles. However, on June 26, the prosecutor's office appealed this decision. On September 5, the Kursk Regional Court overturned the decision to release Christensen and sent the case for a new trial.

• Danish citizen Dennis Christensen regularly faced pressure from the colony administration. According to information from Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, the believer spent 37 days in a punishment cell (punishment cell). The pressure has intensified as Christensen attempts to be released.
• On February 6, 2019, the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Orel sentenced Christensen to six years in a general regime colony on charges of involvement in the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Christensen was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organizing the activities of an extremist organization).
• In April 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia as an extremist organization and banned its activities throughout the country. In August, all communities of Jehovah's Witnesses were added to the list of prohibited ones.
