In Nizhny Novgorod, a picket participant was fined in support of the assistant professor of the Moscow State University accused of fakes

Judge of the Nizhny Novgorod District Court of Nizhny Novgorod Mikhail Antonov fined 10 thousand rubles an activist of the “For New Socialism” movement Igor Kostin under the article on participation in an inconsistent campaign (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was announced by the OTD-Info by the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Memorial Arkady Galker.

The interests of Kostin in court were defended by a lawyer from the OVD-info Alexei Matasov. The administrative case against a civil activist was opened due to a single picket on August 30 in support of the assistant professor of the Moscow State University Nikolai Platoshkin, accused of spreading fakes and declension to riots.

The judge concluded that the two pickets who passed on August 30 were “united by a single plan and a common organization”, which means they were a “inconsistent action”.

• On September 6, Igor Kostin was detained next to the house and delivered to the police department, where they drew up a protocol under the article on violation of the rules for participation in the action (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to a single picket in the support of Nikolai Platoshkin.
• Nikolai Platoshkin is a former Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Moscow State University. In 2019, he announced the creation of the movement “For New Socialism”, the purpose of which called the restoration of “renewed” socialism through elections. The leader of the movement actively led the YouTube channel, which has 533 thousand subscribers. In the videos, he opposed amendments to the Constitution and offered to hold coordinated shares in the regions where quarantine was weakened, and after its withdrawal, hold a rally demanding Putin's resignation.
• In early June, two criminal cases were instituted against Nikolai Platoshkin. He is charged with the spread of knowingly false information about the circumstances that pose a threat to the life and safety of citizens (Article 207.1 of the Criminal Code) and the declination to the riots (part 1.1 of article 212 of the Criminal Code). Platoshkina was searched in the apartment of Platoshkina, after which the Basmanny District Court sent him under arrest until August 2, and then extended him.
