The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow fined Maria Temnova and Nina Volkhonskaya, participants in pickets in support of those involved in the New Greatness case on July 16, 10 thousand rubles. This was reported by OVD-Info lawyer Ekaterina Selezneva, who represented the interests of those fined in court.
The participants of the action were brought to justice under the article on violation of the procedure for holding a public event (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code).
The court ignored the fact that in the case materials a photograph with another activist was used as evidence of Temnova’s guilt. The court refused to consider the video recording of the actual arrest.
Single pickets in support of those involved in the “New Greatness” case took place on July 16, after the prosecution asked them for time limits. At least 17 people were detained near the FSB building; they were taken in two paddy wagons to the Meshchansky police station. The interests of activists in the department were represented by lawyer from OVD-Info Sergei Telnov. Around midnight, the police released the last detainees from the police department.
