In Tatarstan, rallies against the construction of a highway through forests and populated areas were not approved

The administration of Kazan refused to agree on two rallies for the "humane" construction of the M12 highway, bypassing forests and settlements. This is reported by Idel.Realii with reference to a resident of the village of Orel (Laishevsky district) and local activist Dmitry Dementyev.

The events were going to be held by residents of the Laishevsky district of Tatarstan on October 31 and November 4. As Dementiev told the publication, in their refusals, the mayor's office referred either to missed deadlines for submitting notifications or to the threat of the spread of coronavirus.

This is not the first time that activists have been denied a rally for changing the construction plan for the M-12 highway. Thus, the Orel authorities did not agree on a similar rally scheduled for October 24th. The same thing happened in mid-October.

• In August 2020, in the Laishevsky district of Tatarstan, were detained participants in a protest against the construction of the M-12 highway through villages and dachas . During the action, about a thousand people lined up in a human chain in the place where the freeway should pass.
• Residents of Tatarstan oppose the construction of the M-12 highway near settlements and in forests. The road construction plan is to be approved by the authorities in November. Activists demand a more "humane" tracing, that is, bypassing settlements and forests.
