A criminal case has been opened on the fact of death in hospital No. 20 in Rostov-on-Don of patients with COVID-19, Interfax reports with reference to the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the region.

The case was initiated under the article “Causing death by negligence to two or more persons” on the fact of the death of five patients, the UK said, without specifying what could have caused the death and other details.

According to Interfax sources, as part of the investigation of the case, searches are being carried out in the administration of Rostov-on-Don, the department of the city health department, the regional Ministry of Health and the place of residence of the former head of the city health department, Nadezhda Levitskaya.

On October 21, local media reported that in Hospital No. 20, 13 patients with coronavirus died due to lack of oxygen. The administration of Rostov-on-Don then stated that "information about the number of dead patients and the causes of their death" was not true , and the head of the city health department claimed that there were no problems with the supply of oxygen to the hospital .
However, a week after the publication of the death of patients, the head of the Rostov-on-Don Health Department was fired, and the Minister of Health of the Rostov Region retired .
