Belarus has restricted the entry of foreigners into the country

The Belarusian authorities have temporarily banned foreign citizens and stateless persons from crossing the border for entry, starting from November 1. Entry was restricted "in order to prevent the spread of infection caused by COVID-19," the State Border Committee of Belarus said in a statement.

Entry will be limited at automobile checkpoints, simplified checkpoints, checkpoints at railway stations and river ports.

This restriction does not apply to those who enter the country through the Minsk airport. In addition, citizens of the Russian Federation, following in transit, will be able to enter the country, among other things. The full list of exceptions is published on the website of the Border Committee.

• On October 29, the Belarusian authorities announced the closure of land borders with Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland. Previously, the Belarusian authorities did not restrict movement across their borders in any way due to the coronavirus pandemic.
