On October 31, in Chelyabinsk there was an explosion in the city clinical hospital No. 2, which during the duration of the pandemic was redesigned to the treatment of patients with coronavirus.

“A separate oxygen station exploded,” the press secretary of the regional Ministry of Health Marina Sergeyeva told Novaya Gazeta. - There are no victims and dead. Reception of new patients is not conducted. Patients in need of oxygen support receive it with cylinders. ”

According to the Ministry of Health, 153 people were evacuated from the hospital, they were first placed in the premises of the stadium nearby. Elena Eleesina. Three patients who needed resuscitation were sent to hospital No. 1, twenty people were determined to the regional hospital No. 3. Then most patients were placed in the first hospital.

It also had to be evacuated 25 residents of a residential building located next to the hospital: windows flew out of the explosion, the construction of the building could seriously suffer, it has to be examined for the safety of living.

The Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexei Tevesler immediately after the explosion introduced an emergency regime in the city and gathered an operational meeting at which he asked the causes of what happened. The head of the regional State Emergencies Ministry, Yuri Burenko, said that the explosion was preceded by a fire of an oxygen booth, which was reported to firefighters at 11.16 local time.

Seven minutes later, a fire brigade arrived at the place, which for another two minutes tried to cool oxygen equipment. However, it was not possible to avoid detonation.

One of the employees of the Chelyabinsk Ministry of Emergencies told Novaya Gazeta that the cause of the fire was depressurizing the cylinder: “There were five containers inside the station: a three -kubum cylinder with liquid oxygen and four two hundred -hundred containers. Most likely, during their installation or refueling, errors were made that led to depressurization. ”

The State First Regional Canal in the Ministry of Emergencies said that the exploding gas station was mounted “the other day”, and on the day of the explosion was used for the first time. The regional Ministry of Health of Novaya Gazeta, on the contrary, said that the oxygen station in the hospital was always: “All hospitals need oxygen to treat serious patients.” When asked about who served the equipment, the press secretary of the department Marina Sergeeva replied that law enforcement agencies would be dealt with this.

The Investigative Committee has already opened a criminal case under the article "negligence".

“A set of necessary investigative actions is carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident and guilty officials responsible for ensuring the safe storage of oxygen,” the UK said.

A curious moment: on the public procurement website there is no tender for the supply to the MAUZ GKB No. 2 of Chelyabinsk, neither whole oxygen stations nor their elements.

The last purchase of oxygen equipment-consumables for the Oxygen generator "Provita-50"-according to the register of contracts, was committed in September 2017. What kind of oxygen station was installed near the walls of the second city hospital, apparently, the consequence will be clarified. The Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexei Texler ordered to check all the oxygen installations in the region.

PS

After the explosion, Znak.com, citing the prosecutor of the Chelyabinsk region, Vitaly Lopin said: “According to preliminary data, two severe patients of the hospital died during temporary interruptions with oxygen.” The Ministry of Health did not confirm this data. The governor Texler said that patients died before the explosion, their death with detonation was not connected.
