Belarus has closed entry across the border for foreigners

Belarus from Sunday, November 1, closes entry for all foreigners "in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus." An exception is made for Russians traveling through the territory of Belarus to Russia.

The statement of the State Border Committee says that Belarus “from November 1 temporarily suspends border crossing for entry for foreign citizens and stateless persons at road checkpoints, simplified checkpoints, checkpoints at railway stations (stations), checkpoints at river ports” .

In addition to the usual exceptions (diplomats, crew members of vehicles, close relatives of citizens of Belarus and others), the restriction does not apply to Russians transiting to Russia, as well as to persons arriving at Minsk airport.

In fact, the restrictions have been in effect since October 29. Prior to their introduction, foreigners entering Belarus through the border could present the original negative PCR test for coronavirus, passed no earlier than 72 hours. In his absence, entry was denied.

Direct flights between Russia and Belarus have been resumed since the end of September to a limited extent.
