In the United States, 36-year-old Russian Alexander Brovko was sentenced to eight years in prison for Internet fraud. This was reported by the US Department of Justice.
According to investigators, Brovko “participated in a scheme to gain access to personal and financial information of Americans for more than ten years.” He admitted guilt.
According to federal prosecutor Zachary Terwilliger, Brovko used his programming skills to steal and use confidential information. The investigation estimated the damage caused by the hacker at $100 million.
