Pavel Rebrovsky, a defendant in the “New Greatness” case, who is being held in the Moscow pre-trial detention center-7 “Kapotnya”, was transferred from the punishment cell to a regular cell. This was reported by lawyer from OVD-Info Maria Eismont.

“Thanks to the uproar (thanks to everyone who participated and, above all, [member of the Moscow POC] Marina Litvinovich), he was transferred from the punishment cell to a regular cell, where there is hot water and inquisitive neighbors (all accused of non-violent crimes) who heard about the case “New greatness” and demand details.

On October 30, a member of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission, Marina Litvinovich, reported that Rebrovsky was transferred to a punishment cell allegedly due to a lack of available places in the pre-trial detention center. “SIZO-7 is overcrowded, there are practically no places for people anymore, and for this reason Pavel Rebrovsky is in a punishment cell. This is generally some kind of nonsense, because people are usually in a punishment cell for certain violations. The fact is that a punishment cell is a room in which many of the usual functions of a cell are usually absent, <...> it is intended for punishment,” Litvinovich clarified.

• On October 29, the Lyublinsky District Court sentenced Pavel Rebrovsky to six years in prison, finding him guilty under the article on organizing the activities of an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code).
• Previously, Rebrovsky entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation, pleaded guilty to charges of organizing an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and gave the testimony necessary for the investigation. According to him, he was promised a suspended sentence. However, later the court sentenced Rebrovsky to two and a half years in prison. Rebrovsky reported that during the investigation they threatened him to sign the required testimony. His case was sent for a new trial. Despite this, on August 6, in sentencing the seven defendants in “New Greatness,” the court took into account only Rebrovsky’s initial testimony. During the announcement of the verdict, the judge indicated that the defendant renounced his initial testimony in order to avoid punishment.
• Members of the “New Greatness” movement were detained in March 2018. They were accused of creating an extremist community and preparing for a coup. Lawyers and defendants in the case report that the movement was infiltrated by an intelligence officer who came up with the charter and program of “New Greatness,” spoke about the need for training, and also rented an office for activist meetings. On August 6, 2020, the court found some of the defendants in the case guilty under the article on organizing the activities of an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code), three were given actual sentences of 6 to 7 years in prison.
