In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the court arrested the ex-deputy on suspicion of the murder of a journalist Popkov

The Minusinsk City Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory arrested the businessman and former deputy ISU Khashiev, who was suspected of murder of the editor-in-chief of the socio-political newspaper Tons-M Dmitry Popkov. This was reported by the press service of the regional court.

The court elected Khashiev a preventive measure in the form of detention until November 26. The press service also said that the former deputy was detained on November 3 at the Moscow Airport Sheremetyevo while trying to fly to Ingushetia. Previously, Khashieva was detained on suspicion of illegal production and storage of weapons (part 1 of article 222 of the Criminal Code and part 1 of article 223 of the Criminal Code).

At the end of August, the SK said he disclosed the case. According to the investigation, the possible reason for the murder of a journalist could be his investigation, affecting the authoritative entrepreneur from Minusinsk Nikolai Goryunov. According to the department, Goryunov organized the murder by providing his acquaintance by Viktor Shestakov with a homemade firearm with a device installed on it for silent shooting. The UK also announced the detention of both defendants and the conduct of the complex of additional actions to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

41-year-old Dmitry Popkov was shot on May 24, 2017 in a bathhouse in his possession in Minusinsk. The editor-in-chief of the Tons-M newspaper, whose slogan: “We write what others are silent about”, published critical materials on socio-political topics. Prior to work in the media, Popkov was a deputy of the City Council of Minusinsk.
