A participant in last year's rally against the border of Ingushetia with Chechnya was sentenced to a year in prison and released in the courtroom

The Zheleznovodsk City Court of Stavropol sentenced Amirkhan Bekov, a participant in the rally in Magas, to a year in prison and released him, as he credited the time served in the pre-trial detention center. Fortanga about this Lawyer Hussein Guliyev told .

Bekov was accused of using violence against the National Guard (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). He admitted his guilt, but noted that he did not feel hostility towards the security forces and the authorities of Ingushetia.

Bekov was arrested in February. He spent almost nine months in jail.

The protests in Magas began in the fall of 2018, when Chechnya and Ingushetia signed an agreement to change the administrative borders. They resumed in March 2019: the participants of the agreed rally refused to disperse and stayed on the central square of the city for the night; clashes occurred in the morning during the dispersal.

After the protests in Ingushetia, cases were opened on the use of violence against the security forces and on mass riots. In total, 44 protesters were prosecuted, Fortanga notes.
