The Sverdlovsk Regional Court canceled a fine of 10,000 rubles to Maxim Vernikov, a collector of signatures for the return of direct mayoral elections in the Sverdlovsk Region. About this writes "Ural. MBKh Media.

In August, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg found Vernikov guilty under the article on violation of the rules for participation in a public event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and imposed a fine.

Maxim Vernikov is a former coordinator of the local branch of Open Russia. In February, the court found Vernikov guilty in the case of carrying out the activities of an undesirable organization (Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code). The activist was assigned 300 hours of compulsory work.

• Maxim Vernikov, Aleksey Karamuzin, and Andrei Pirozhkov, a deputy of the City Duma from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, were detained on August 4.
