Mikhail Efremov was sent to a colony

Updated. Efremov was transferred to the Belgorod region, Alexey Melnikov, a member of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission, told Interfax.

Actor Mikhail Efremov, convicted in the case of an accident, was sent to a colony, RIA Novosti reports.

“Convicted Efremov M.O. sent to the place of punishment. According to Article 75 of the Penal Code of the Russian Federation, the administration of the pre-trial detention center will notify one of the relatives of the convict's choice about where he is going to serve his sentence, ”the agency reports.

The PMC said earlier that Efremov decided to stay to serve his sentence in the SIZO-5 housekeeping detachment.

• On September 8, 2020, the Presnensky Court of Moscow sentenced Efremov to eight years in a penal colony; on October 22, the Moscow City Court reduced his sentence to seven and a half years.
• In early June, Efremov's car drove into a van on the Garden Ring Road, the driver of the van died. Efremov was found guilty of violating traffic rules, which negligently caused the death of a person.
