The EU imposed sanctions against Lukashenko, his son Victor and another 14 figures of regime

The Council of the EU, which did not recognize the results of the elections in Belarus and condemned violence against participants in peaceful protests, approved an additional sanctions list on Belarus on Friday, which includes 15 officials of the country, including President Alexander Lukashenko, as well as his eldest son Victor.

Restrictive measures enter into force on the day of the official publication of the act. The corresponding decision was published on the website of the "Official Journal", Interfax reports.

Sanctions measures are freezing financial assets in the EU and a ban on the issuance of visas to the EU countries indicated in the list.

The political decision on the expansion of sanctions on Belarus of the EU Foreign Ministry was adopted on October 12. Since then, work has been going on to compile and coordinate a new black list.

After the presidential elections in Belarus on August 9, which in the European Union are considered falsified authorities in the country, this is the second sanctions action of the EU.

This is the second package of individual EU sanctions on Belarus. On October 2, the Council of the European Union adopted additional individual sanctions against Belarusian officials.

Then, a total of 40 people were included in the sanctions list, which in the European Union are considered involved in the falsification of the results of the presidential election and violence against the manifestants during peaceful protests, but Alexander Lukashenko was not included in the list. The European Union expressed the hope that the Belarusian authorities will respond to the call and "begin a constructive dialogue with the Belarusian opposition."

On September 29, Great Britain and Canada imposed sanctions against Lukashenko, his son Victor and six more high -ranking representatives of the Belarusian authorities.
