The daily increase in new coronavirus infection amounted to 20,498 cases in 84 regions, Interfax reports with reference to the data of the Federal Operational Staff to Combating Coronaviral Infection, published on Sunday.

The third day in a row, the number of new Covid-19 cases in the Russian Federation exceeds 20 thousand. On Saturday, the headquarters reported about 20,396 cases, on Friday - about 20,582, which is still a maximum since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor said that an increase in the number of cases of infection could last another week.

In Moscow per day, 5,751 new Covid-19 cases were identified in the Russian capital. The number of issued per day was 3,254 people, 74 patients died.

In total, 286 patients died in Russia per day, 11,492 people were discharged. At the same time, the total number of recovered decreased from 74.9% to 74.6% of the total number of infected.
