Putin named the names of the dead pilots of the helicopter that was shot down by an Azerbaijani missile

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, named the names of the pilots who died in the crash of the Mi-24 helicopter in Armenia, which was shot down by the Azerbaijani military.

The President said that crew commander Yuri Ischuk and Lieutenant Roman Fedin were killed; At Putin's suggestion, the meeting participants honored their memory with a minute of silence. The President also wished recovery to the injured navigator (he did not name him) and instructed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to provide assistance to the families of the victims.

“The President of Azerbaijan assured me that a thorough investigation would be carried out as part of the criminal case initiated, and those responsible would be punished,” Putin said.

• The Mi-24, which was escorting a convoy of Russian military personnel, was shot down in the airspace of Armenia near the border with Azerbaijan on the evening of November 9. The incident occurred more than 100 kilometers from the combat zone in Nagorno-Karabakh.
• Immediately after the incident, the Azerbaijani authorities admitted their responsibility and stated that the helicopter was shot down by mistake. Official Baku apologized and promised to punish those responsible.
