“Tickets have already been sold. How do we decide who to let in and who not to let in?” General Director of the Bolshoi Theater on limiting the number of spectators at performances

Director General of the Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin criticized the decision of the Moscow authorities to limit theater occupancy from the current 50 to 25 percent. It is reported by TASS.

“We have sold tickets until the end of December, and how should we sort the spectators at the entrance, who to let in - who not to let in? You can imagine what scandals we will have ahead of us, ”said Urin.

The general director also lamented the financial losses that the theater would incur due to the return of tickets. According to Urin, "if the epidemiological situation requires it, it would be better to decide to close the theaters," since the occupancy rate of 25% will not cover the cost of producing performances.

• On November 10, against the backdrop of a record number of cases in the city since the beginning of the pandemic, the Moscow authorities announced new restrictions that will last two months. These include a ban on the operation of entertainment venues and catering establishments at night, the transfer of students to remote learning, as well as limiting the number of spectators in theaters, cinemas and concert halls to 25%. The restrictions will be in effect from November 13 to January 15.
