Public and cultural figures, businessmen, scientists and journalists issued an open letter in which they called on UNESCO to include the monuments of the Christian heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The text of the letter was received by the editors of Meduza.
The authors of the appeal believe that after the end of the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, the monuments located on this territory “are in danger and may be subjected to destruction, destruction and vandalism.”
We ask UNESCO to use all its authority and authority to save the monuments of the Christian cultural, artistic and architectural heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh, give them the necessary status and include them in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The letter was signed by more than 80 people. Among them are musician Boris Grebenshchikov, conductor and violinist Vladimir Spivakov, conductor Teodor Currentzis, directors Alexander Sokurov, Alexei German Jr. and Sarik Andreasyan, writer Zakhar Prilepin, actresses Yulia Aug and Svetlana Nemolyaeva, TV presenter and showman Garik Martirosyan, one of the founders of Comedy Club Artashes Sargsyan, CEO of MegaFon Gevorg Vermishyan.
