A resident of Kaliningrad was fined 350 thousand rubles for reposting a recording about an explosion in the Arkhangelsk FSB department

The Second Western District Military Court fined Lyudmila Stech, a resident of Kaliningrad, 350,000 rubles for reposting a record about an explosion in the FSB headquarters in Arkhangelsk. This was reported to Interfax by Stech's lawyer Maria Bontsler.

Stech was found guilty under the article on the public justification of terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). As Bonzler noted, her client did not suspect that the repost would be regarded as a crime under this article.

“The fine will be a serious punishment. She is unemployed, who cannot get a job anywhere, since she is already in the Roskomnadzor database for this repost, ”the lawyer said. The prosecution demanded 5.5 years of imprisonment for Stech in a penal colony.

The explosion in the building of the Arkhangelsk FSB on the morning of October 31, 2018 was committed by 17-year-old student of the Polytechnic College Mikhail Zhlobitsky; he detonated a homemade bomb at the entrance to the reception room, killed himself and wounded three FSB officers. Before the explosion, he explained his act in a telegram chat by saying that the FSB “fabricated cases and tortured people.”

For publications and comments on this, more than ten people were accused of justifying terrorism in Russia. Among those sentenced is Pskov journalist Svetlana Prokopyeva, she was fined 500,000 rubles. Bonzler noted that in Kaliningrad there were several convicted under the article on justifying terrorism, most of the sentences were passed because of the events in Arkhangelsk.
