The home of one of the protest leaders in Ingushetia was searched

In the city of Karabulak, a search is being carried out at the home of the ex-Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia and one of the leaders of the protest against the exchange of lands with Chechnya, Akhmed Pogorov. reports . Fortanga

According to the source of the publication, searches are taking place in the family home of Pogorov, as well as in the home of his relatives living nearby. It is reported that security forces on armored vehicles cordoned off the whole block.

Pogorov himself was put on the federal wanted list back in 2019, and now he is at large in an unknown location. Last year, the homes of his relatives were searched at least five times already. He was put on the wanted list due to the fact that he violated his undertaking not to leave, although he claims that he did not give such an undertaking.

Akhmed Pogorov is being prosecuted under several criminal articles at once in connection with the protests in Ingushetia in the spring of 2019. He is charged with creating an extremist community (part 1 of article 282.1 of the Criminal Code), organizing life-threatening violence against police officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code with the application of part 3 of article 33), as well as the creation of a non-profit organization whose activities are associated with the inducement of citizens to commit unlawful acts (part 2 of article 239 of the Criminal Code).

• In September 2018, the authorities of Ingushetia and Chechnya signed an agreement to change the border between the republics, after which protests began in Ingushetia. On March 26, 2019, about 10 thousand people came to the rally in Magas. About two thousand protesters remained on the square all night. In the morning they began to be dispersed, as a result of which clashes broke out between the security forces and the protesters .
• According to the Memorial human rights center, as of October 2020, 45 people were brought to justice in the wake of the rally in Magas, and criminal prosecution against 3 of them was discontinued. 26 defendants in the "Ingush case" were sentenced to terms ranging from one year and four months in a colony-settlement to one year and ten months in a general regime colony.
