Archive of the future of agricultural science

The largest archive of Russian research in the field of agricultural sciences has been launched in Novosibirsk. The State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences acted as the aggregator of scientific information.

Historically, the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the SB RAS has not dealt with agriculture. Everything changed a few years ago, when, as a result of the reorganization, the Siberian Scientific Agricultural Library, located in the village of S. Krasnoobsk. Now agricultural sciences are as important for the largest library beyond the Urals as social, natural and technical ones.

The agricultural sector is a strategic pillar of the Russian economy, accounting for about 4% of GDP. For the systemic development of this industry, constant effective innovations are needed. Fundamental scientific and technological changes and discoveries that have taken place in recent decades, the actualization of global problems of our time have created the prerequisites for the transition of the agro-industrial complex to a fundamentally new stage of development. This stage is based on the introduction of smart solutions of bio- and nanotechnologies, robotics, and the growing influence of consumers.

In order for scientific knowledge to develop and be embodied in new technologies and products, it must be neatly systematized. It is necessary to collect and catalog archives of scientific publications, lectures, monographs, recorded conferences and master classes. And this work has already begun. "An electronic archive of issues of scientific journals in the thematic area "Agricultural Sciences" is being created as a result of work under a state contract within the framework of the project "Development of a system for demonstrating and popularizing the results and achievements of science" of the Federal Target Program "Research and development in priority areas of development of the scientific and technological complex of Russia in 2014-2020, - explains Andrey Guskov, Director of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
