The Petrozavodsk City Court extended the arrest of Karelian historian Yury Dmitriev for two months. This is reported by the publication "North-West. MBKh media” with reference to the lawyer of the victims, Igor Perov.
Dmitriev’s detention was extended until February 27, 2021 as part of the retrial of the criminal case under articles on indecent acts (part 3 of article 135 of the Criminal Code), on the production of pornography (article 242.2 of the Criminal Code) and on possession of weapons (part 1 of article 135 of the Criminal Code). 222 of the Criminal Code).
In the summer of 2020, the city court sentenced Dmitriev to 3.5 years under the article on violent acts of a sexual nature against his underage adopted daughter (clause “b” part 4 of article 132 of the Criminal Code) and acquitted him under the articles on indecent acts, on the production of pornography and on storage of weapons. However, already in September, the Supreme Court of Karelia, in an appeal, increased Dmitriev's sentence from 3.5 to 13 years in prison under the article on sexual assault against a minor, and the acquittal under three other articles was canceled and sent for review.
In early November, Dmitriev filed an appeal against the verdict. Now he is in SIZO-1 of Karelia in Petrozavodsk.
