The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia did not find violations in the purchase of protective equipment for doctors of the St. Petersburg Hospital of War Veterans. The cost of the contract was 1.3 billion rubles. "New Gazeta" wrote that the prices for PPE are overstated.

The decision of the FAS states that the hospital and the healthcare committee received commercial offers from different suppliers, but the proposal of the Moscow company "RED Star" "most consistent with the need for PPE, both in terms of quantity, terms of the first and subsequent supplies, and in price." According to the FAS, only the RED Star company could put the required amount of protection at the time of conclusion of the contract. The department considered that the authorities did not violate the contract system.

In June, the New Gazeta wrote that the hospital for the supply of half a million protective medical costumes for veterans of wars concluded on April 30, 2020. Its price is 1 billion 29 million rubles. The cost of one protective suit is 2150 rubles. The procurement took place without a competition, the protective equipment was purchased from the only supplier - the company "Red Star". It was established in 2018, it is considered an advertising agency, in its staff one employee - General Director Anton Vatel .

The publication notes that there were no clear criteria for protective costumes in the description of the supply items and the manufacturer was not indicated. The publication compared the prices for PPE and came to the conclusion that they were doubled from the market value.

The company "Red Star" belongs to Anton Vatel, who is known under the nickname Tony VA. He was a back vocalist and concert director of rapper Alexander Zhvakin.
