In April, the festival was canceled in connection with a ban on public events in France. According to the press service of the festival in the ex-en-provence, since then the premiere of the new opera of Kayi Sarariaho ( Innocence ) and the “Golden Coemuscu” of Rimsky-Korsakov put on the production of Barry Koski with Dmitry Ulyanov in the party of Tsar Dodon have been added to the 2020 program. The rehearsals of both performances took place in the summer at closed doors.
Thus, they note in the press service, in 2021 the audience will see eight new opera productions, another opera will sound in concert performance. At one of the main festival scenes - in the courtyard of the former archbishop’s palace - in 2021 three performances will be shown instead of the usual two.
The festival program covers different eras and styles - from the music of Italian baroque to the works of modern composers. Among the main performances of the program “The Wedding of Figaro” Mozart, “Two Foscari” and “Falstaff” Verdi, as well as the opera Vagner “Tristan and Isolde”, which will be represented in the ex-en-province for the first time in the history of the festival.
The London Symphony Orchestra under the control of Simon Rattla, the choir and orchestra of the Lyon Opera, under the control of Daniel Rustioni, the Balthazara Neoyman, under the control of Thomas Hengelbrock, the directors of Simon Stone, Barry Koski, Lotta de Beer and Sylvia Costa, Kaiai composers, Kayu composers will come to the festival. Saariaho and Bushra El Tourk, conductor Susanna Maglikki and Kanako Abe.
The fully program and composition of the festival participants in the ex-en-product of 2021 will be published in January.
