Shibanov was found guilty of intentionally causing minor bodily harm. In addition, he must pay the victim 57,500 rubles for legal expenses and 30 thousand rubles in compensation for moral damage. Shibanov intends to appeal the verdict.

In May 2019, protests began in Yekaterinburg over the construction of a temple on the site of a park near the Drama Theater. Rumyantsev recorded a report at one of the rallies and called the protesters “possessed.” He then addressed Shibanova, calling him “girl.” He threatened to break his jaw for insulting him. After Rumyantsev’s remark “you are responsible for your words, then hit him,” Shibanov hit him, the activist fell.

The authorities eventually abandoned the construction of a temple in the city center.
