The city court of St. Petersburg upheld the decision of the Smolninsky district court, which recognized the illegality of the actions of the police. On January 18, they detained activist and human rights activist Maria Malysheva after a picket against amendments to the Constitution. She herself informed OVD-Info about this.
The court considered the complaint of the Ministry of Internal Affairs against the decision of the court of first instance on the claim of the activist, which she filed because of her detention. Earlier, the Smolninsky Court partially granted the claim.
According to Malysheva, she was detained in a cafe where she went after the picket. The representative of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Central District of St. Petersburg tried to explain to the court that the reason for the detention was the "negative content" of Malysheva's poster. A report on an administrative offense against her was not drawn up, but she was detained for several hours to give explanations in connection with someone's complaint about the picket.
