In the village of Kurba near Vinnitsa there is a small museum of Veps house, created by the local school teacher Svetlana Ivanovna Ershova. The road from St. Petersburg will take about 5 hours there, it can be combined with a trip to the surrounding villages or to the Lake of Onega.
Svetlana Ivanovna gathered most of the exhibits for the museum along with students in abandoned Veps villages. The collection contains ancient dishes, traditional outfits, tools, birch bark products. In total - about a thousand items and documents. One of the rooms is furnished like a hut: with a bed, a stove and a cradle. There is even a homemade children's doll.
Initially, the museum existed at school. A few years ago she was closed, but Svetlana Ivanovna retained the collection and actually opened a new museum in the empty building of the former administration. She made repairs at her own expense with the support of relatives and local residents, and also achieved the status of a branch of the Podporozhsky Museum for establishing the status of a branch.
Svetlana Ivanovna is the only employee of the museum. She lives nearby and conducts excursions (but not during the pandemic) for everyone. The price is free.
The museum has neither a site nor a group in social networks, few people know about its existence. To get there, you need to call in advance by phone 8 (813) 654-68-33.
