The war in Nagorno -Karabakhended three weeks ago. Armenia and Azerbaijan came to an agreement on a truce.
Its conditions actually record the defeat of Yerevan and Stepanakert supported by him (that is, the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) in the last conflict. Several areas of Karabakh crossed the control of Azerbaijan. Including the city of Shusha, located only 14 kilometers from Stepanakert.
Russian peacekeepers were introduced into the region - they are located along the line of contact and the Lachinsky corridor (this site connects the republic with Armenia). After the war, more than 23 thousand people returned to Nagorny Karabakh. But many Armenians leave Karabakh - they do not want to live in cities and villages, which Azerbaijan takes control of. It is known that the departing often burn their homes .
The correspondent of Kommersant Alexander Chernykh was in Karabakh during the fighting, and recently went there again. He spoke with the people who leave the republic , and interviewed the commander of the Russian peacekeepers guarding the Dadivank monastery. And also visited the village of Ukhtasar - one of those who turned under the control of Azerbaijan.
In the new episode of the podcast “What happened”, Chernykh tells what is happening in Nagorno -Karabakh after the end of the war.
