A criminal case was opened in Tyumen against a participant in a rally in honor of the anniversary of the October Revolution

In Tyumen, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on the use of violence against a policeman (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) against Alexander Cherepanov, a member of the Russian Communist Workers' Party (RKRP-CPSU). Cherepanov himself told about this OVD-Info, as well as reports from the publications " Our City " and Znak.com .

A criminal case was initiated in the wake of Cherepanov's detention on November 7 during a communist rally dedicated to the anniversary of the October Revolution.

According to the investigation, Cherepanov, during the arrest, kicked police lieutenant colonel Vyacheslav Volkovitsky in the face. Now a member of the RCRP-CPSU is in the status of a suspect in the case. The investigator chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place.

The action on November 7 was inconsistent: as the party writes on its website, the communists tried three times to coordinate the demonstration, but the authorities refused them each time, citing the coronavirus pandemic.

When the police surrounded the demonstrators, Cherepanov said he approached them to talk calmly in order to avoid conflict.

The protesters went out onto the roadway, and this was probably the reason for the intervention of the police. Therefore, Cherepanov suggested that the police let the demonstrators pass to the other side of the street, where they would walk the rest of the route along the sidewalk. In a conversation with OVD-Info, Alexander Cherepanov spoke about what happened next:

Instead, they grab me, <…>, and they grab a man in civilian clothes, who I am - I don’t understand. <...> Then several people grab me and drag me into the car. They throw it on the floor in the car. Then two of them hold my hands, I lie on the floor on my back, and my legs are still on the street. Then this lieutenant colonel (Vyacheslav Volkovitsky - OVD-Info ) throws my legs up. And I have an operation on my knee, so I can’t keep my leg in a bent state - the pain is terrible. <…> He said that I kicked him

Volkovitsky appealed to the Investigative Committee with a request to initiate a criminal case against Cherepanov. And on November 13, the UK opened a case under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code. According to Znak.com, according to investigators, a member of the RCRP allegedly hit Volkovitsky in the cheekbone, after which the policeman developed a hematoma on his upper eyelid.

The investigator in his case interrogated two other detainees at the action as witnesses: Cherepanov's wife and Tatyana Tselykh. At the same time, in a conversation with Our City and Znak.com correspondents, Cherepanov noted that the investigator put pressure on the witnesses in the case, forcing them to confirm that the communist hit the policeman.

He also said that the investigator did not record all their testimonies, but “only what was beneficial”, and during interrogation she showed the witnesses mounted excerpts from operational footage from the event.

The communist considers the criminal case initiated against him ordered and does not admit guilt. He appealed the decision to initiate a criminal case: his complaint will be considered on December 7 at the Leninsky District Court of Tyumen.
