The European Union has developed sanctions against human rights violations

The European Union has decided to develop sanctions against human rights violations. This was reported on the association's website.

According to the concept of the project, the EU will be able to respond to human rights violations by individuals, organizations, state and non-state structures. The EU writes that for the first time it will have such powers, regardless of which part of the world does not comply with international norms.

Among the violations to which the EU is ready to respond, the report notes "genocide, crimes against humanity and other serious violations of human rights (in particular, torture, slavery, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrest or detention)".

Among the proposed sanctions are restrictions on entry, freezing of accounts, as well as a ban on receiving bank transfers from the European Union.

The EU notes that other violations and abuses may also be subject to sanctions if they turn out to be systematic.
