The court decided to return the phone confiscated almost 5 years ago to the person convicted in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case.

On December 4, the Southern District Military Court ruled to return the confiscated phone to Vadim Siruk, sentenced to 12 years in the Yalta case of Hizb ut-Tahrir. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".

Siruk attended the meeting via videoconference from correctional colony No. 2 in Bashkortostan. The lawyers were in the Crimean garrison military court.

The phone, whose fate was decided by the court, was confiscated during a search of Siruk's house in February 2016.

“The phone was confiscated, and it is listed as confiscated in the search protocol. And also the investigator attached it as material evidence. However, neither during the judicial investigation in the Southern District Military Court, nor in the future - he was not indicated anywhere and he was not presented by the prosecution and, in fact, he was not indicated in the verdict itself. Today the fate of this phone was resolved. That is, today a military court, a military prosecutor, lawyers gathered to decide the fate of a piece of plastic, ”said lawyer Emil Kurbedinov.

In October, it became known that Siruk was transferred to a colony in Bashkiria.

• On November 12, 2019, the court sentenced Arsen Dzhepparov to a strict regime colony for 7 years, Refat Alimov for 8 years, Vadim Siruk and Emir-Usein Kuku for 12 years. They were found guilty of participating in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). Inver Bekirov was sentenced to 18 years in a strict regime colony, Muslim Aliyev - to 19 years. They were charged with organizing the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). In addition, all six were found guilty of preparing for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order (Article 278 of the Criminal Code with the application of the 1st part of Article 30 of the Criminal Code). On June 26, 2020, the Court of Appeal upheld the verdict. None of the defendants pleaded guilty.
• Aliyev, Bekirov, Siruk and Kuku were detained in February 2016, Alimov and Dzhepparov in April 2016.
• The Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir has been recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. In various regions of Russia, as well as in the Crimea, alleged members of the party are being prosecuted for the activities of a terrorist organization. The accused are sentenced to various terms only on the basis that they held meetings and read religious literature. On the territory of Ukraine, the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir are allowed.
