The court rejected the complaint to extend the arrest of protest leaders in Ingushetia
The Stavropol Territory Court dismissed a complaint about the extension of the arrest of seven defendants in the "Ingush case". This was reported by Fortanga with reference to the lawyer Dzhabrail Kuriev.
In November, the Kislovodsk District Court extended the preventive measure for Akhmet Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, Ismail Nalgiev, Zarifa Sautieva, Malsag Uzhakhov, Bagaudin Khautiev and Barakh Chemurziev for 6 months. They are charged under articles on organizing dangerous violence against government officials (part 2 of article 318 with the application of part 3 of article 33 of the Criminal Code), on organizing an extremist community (part 1 of article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and participating in such a community (part 2 article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). Uzhakhov is also accused under the article on the creation of an NPO, whose activities induce citizens to illegal actions (part 2 of article 239 of the Criminal Code), and Barakhoev is accused of participating in such an NPO (part 3 of article 239 of the Criminal Code).
The defendants in the case participated in the meeting on the complaint via videoconference from the Pyatigorsk pre-trial detention center. The lawyers were in the Supreme Court of Ingushetia.
Several lawyers could not take part in the meeting, in connection with which the defense side asked to postpone the date of the meeting. The court rejected the petitions and assigned other lawyers to the defendants, although the defendants insisted on the participation of their defense lawyers by agreement.
“The court unlawfully, unlawfully interfered in the debate of the parties. The law does not provide for the possibility of restricting participation in the debate of the parties. This is an absolutely inviolable process when a person expresses his position in the form in which he wants. No one can deprive them of this right. I made a statement with a request to record these objections in full in the minutes of the court session, ”commented lawyer Kuriev on the meeting.
