Forbes named the hundred most powerful women in the world. Future US Vice President Kamala Harris was included in the ranking for the first time - immediately in third place

Forbes magazine has compiled the seventeenth annual ranking of the 100 most powerful women in the world.

Elvira Nabiullina, head of the Central Bank, has been the only representative of Russia in the ranking for three years in a row (in 2017, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan was also on the list). In 2020, Nabiullina took 57th place, in the 2019 ranking she was in 53rd place, and in 2018 she was in 49th place.

In first place for the tenth year in a row - German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The second line, as in the 2019 ranking, is occupied by the head of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde.

Forbes gave the third place to the newcomer of the rating - the future US Vice President Kamala Harris.

In total, there are 17 new participants in the new ranking. “This is an illustration of the fact that women are in charge of all spheres of life in a society that is changing under the influence of the [coronavirus] pandemic,” the publication notes.

So, among the newcomers is Karen Lynch, executive vice president of CVS Health (a prescription drug supplier that operates a network of seven thousand pharmacies in 40 US states), who in 2021 will be responsible for issues related to the COVID-19 vaccine in the company.
