Abu Dhabi will begin testing Russian vaccine

Abu Dhabi will begin the third phase of clinical trials of the Russian adenovirus vaccine against COVID-19 - the capital of the UAE is already looking for 500 volunteers for this, writes Bloomberg. Most likely, we are talking about Sputnik V.

But the UAE does not rely on one Russian vaccine. The country is also conducting Phase 3 trials of a vaccine developed by China's Sinopharm Group Co, having already issued emergency approval in September for its use by healthcare workers. Just today, Chinese state media reported that the effectiveness of this vaccine in the early stages of the third phase of clinical trials has reached 97%.

So far, the Russian vaccine is in demand in the countries of the second and third world - Russia has already received a pre-order for 1 billion doses of vaccines, among the customers are the countries of the former CIS and Latin America.

Developers of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V (Gamaleya Center) said initial testing showed it was 91.4% effective, although the results have not yet been published in peer-reviewed journals. Pfizer and BioNTech said their jointly developed vaccine is 95% effective.
