Some of the Petersburgers on social networks criticized a living spruce, which was installed on Palace Square on December 8. The townspeople call her “shabby”, they are surprised at the branches attached to the trunk with a wire, and are also photographed by a tree with a poster with the inscription “not fluffy”. There are those who are pleased with the spruce.

In Smolny, they say that when decorating high spruce, you always need to use additional branches, especially on the lower tier. “In the forest at an altitude of 5-10 meters, the tree closes thick young animals and does not pass the light to the lower branches. This is the drawback of all tall trees that will be correctly fixed, ”the city administration reports, noting that at least 10 days will take decoration.

Toys for spruce in the form of balls, houses, sweets and snowmen are now handed by artists manually. The selected decor will be made in Retrostil. According to the public procurement website, the entire design of Palace Square will cost 13 million rubles. This amount includes delivery, installation, dismantling and disposal of the main spruce, as well as several natural fir trees that will be part of a decorative composition in the square.

The competition for work was won by Nord Design LLC. In 2019, the company also engaged in the installation of spruce on Palace Square, then the tree was artificial. The work cost almost 4 million rubles.

"Paper" showed how spruce looks in Palace Square. For the first time in a few years, it is not artificial-the last time the living tree was put in 2012. This year, the townspeople voted for a real Christmas tree.
