The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan handed a note to the representative of Russia because of the statement on Channel One by State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov about the territory of this country. This was reported on the website of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Marat Syzdykov, during a meeting with Russian Charge d'Affaires Alexander Komarov, expressed bewilderment at Nikonov's words.
“The increased provocative attacks by some Russian politicians against Kazakhstan are causing serious damage to the allied relations between our states,” the report says. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry added that it expects an "adequate assessment" of such statements from the Russian side and their prevention in the future.
Nikonov, on the air of the Big Game program on Channel One, said: “Actually, the territory of Kazakhstan is a great gift from Russia and the Soviet Union” ( quoted by Tengrinews). The Russian MP also said that "Kazakhstan simply did not exist, northern Kazakhstan was not inhabited at all."
