Cyclone "Chantal" goes to St. Petersburg

The weather situation in St. Petersburg on December 16 will be determined by the Channel Cyclone approaching from the north-west. Possible precipitation in the form of snow, wet snow and rain, as well as melting the snow cover, Mikhail Leus’s weather forecaster reported by the Fobos Center.

According to Leus, the air temperature in St. Petersburg will be from 0 to +2 degrees, cloudy weather is expected. In the morning, heavy snow will come to the city, during the day it can go into wet snow, and closer to the evening - in the rains. There is a high probability of ice on the roads. This is confirmed by the hydrometeorological center.

Leus notes that Petersburg “awaits a powerful thaw”: the snow cover can actively melt. According to the weather forecaster, in places it is possible to stick wet snow on the wires and trees. In total, about 5-8 mm of precipitation will fall in a day, which will increase the snow cover slightly.

In St. Petersburg, a moderate wind is expected by a speed of 4 to 9 meters per second.

Earlier, the chief weather forecaster of St. Petersburg told the “paper” that in St. Petersburg from December 14 to December 20, it would get a little colder. In the Leningrad region, the temperature was predicted to minus 10-15 degrees.
