The case against Roman Udot under the article on the threat to kill (part 1 of article 119 of the Criminal Code) was initiated due to a conflict with an NTV journalist who filmed Udot at Sheremetyevo Airport. In May 2019, he was placed under house arrest. NTV journalists pursued Udot and his relatives for three years.
In November 2019, Udot was sentenced to 320 hours of community service. The court considered that the victims had real fears for their lives. Udot pleaded not guilty.
In February 2020, the court of appeal upheld the verdict, but decided to commute the sentence, taking into account the time spent under house arrest.
