On December 17, a closed meeting of the leadership of the Polish CD Projekt studio with employees was held, which discussed the situation with Cyberpunk 2077 - the most important game of the year, only a week earlier. The Bloomberg agency learned about this meeting. What is happening in the company, the official slogan of which “we are rebels”, the rebellion most reminded, writes journalist Jason Schreyer.
Cyberpunk 2077 announced back in 2012. Her release was transferred three times. After the exit of the game, literally the whole world settled for it - the number of pre -orders alone was eight million copies. But the players very quickly found a lot of diverse bugs in the Cyberpunk 2077, primarily in the schedule and animation: from people falling into the asphalt to flying cigarettes from smoking heroes.
At the meeting, the company's leaders apologized for the failure release of the game. In turn, employees asked many “sharp questions” about the reputation of CD Projekt, unrealistic deadlines and “unbearable overtime”, which took months and years before the release of Cyberpunk, writes Bloomberg with reference to two participants in the conversation. The publication notes that the six -day working weeks have become almost constant and obligatory before the release of the game.
When asked what will happen next, top managers replied that they plan to improve working practices without specifying, however, how exactly. One of the developers asked whether the management of CD Projekt considered a hypocrisy to make a game about corporate operation, expecting that the company's employees would work overtime. The answer was "vague and evasive", writes Bloomberg.
Another employee asked why in January the management claimed that “the game is ready, and it can already be played”, that is, consciously lied. He received the answer that the board "takes responsibility for himself."
Finally, top managers reported that they had reached an agreement with the Sony Corporation, which produces PlayStation game consoles. But no one specified the details of this agreement. The day after the meeting, it became known that Sony removed Cyberpunk 2077 from her PlayStation Store Games store. Those who have already bought the game will be able to return the money. When it became known about this, CD Projekt shares on the Warsaw Exchange fell by 12%.
Meanwhile, on Twitter, a link was published to an apology generator "in the style of CD Projekt." Everyone can write in it their own text, which will begin with the appeal "Dear Players".
