VTsIOM called the five most popular athletes of the Russian Federation in the past year

The All -Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) traditionally summed up the results of the outgoing year , composing, among other things, the rating of the most popular athletes of the country for the reporting period.

10% of respondents called the athlete of 2020 the winner of the title of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) Khabib Nurmagomedov. The second place was taken by the Zenit footballer and the Russian national team Artem Dziuba (8%).

The first five also included tennis player Daniil Medvedev, hockey player Alexander Ovechkin and skater Alina Zagitova, who scored 2%each. At the same time, 69% of respondents experienced difficulties in choosing an athlete of the year in Russia.

It should be noted that a year ago, Nurmagomedov and Zagitov, a similar rating of VTsIOM , and Dziuba then took third place.

The main event of 2020 in the country and in the world, the Russians expectedly called the Covid -19 pandemic, the main word is Koronavirus, and the main victory is the invention of the vaccine from this virus.

Due to the pandemic, the outgoing year was not rich in sporting events on the scale of the country and the world, therefore they did not get to the tops of the ratings.

The survey was held in December, more than one and a half thousand people over 18 years old took part in it.
