European champion Alena Kostornaya will miss the Russian figure skating championship, which starts on December 24 in Chelyabinsk. This was stated by the General Director of the Figure Skating Federation on Russian skates (FFKKR) Alexander Kogan.

“Alena Kostornaya has left the Russian championship. The reason is that she does not have time to recover to the tournament after the coronavirus,” RIA Novosti quoted Kogan.

Earlier, the athlete missed the fifth stage of the Russian Cup, which was held in early December in Moscow, due to a positive test for coronavirus. On December 15, it was reported that Alena was cured and resumed training under the leadership of Yevgeny Plushenko, to whom in the summer she passed from the group of Eteri Tutberidze.

The day before, it became known about the withdrawal of European champion Dmitry Aliyev from the championship of the country. He also did not have time to recover after the coronavirus.
