More than 75 percent of Russian teachers experience symptoms of professional burnout, in 38 percent of respondents it is in the acute phase. It is reported by Kommersant with reference to the study of the Teacher Development Program for the Development Program and the Yandex Educational Initiative program.
The test was held in the fall of 2020. 38 thousand people took part in it. Researchers defined professional burnout as "chronic exhaustion of emotional, physical and volitional resources, a set of negative experiences related to work." Fighting is observed among teachers regardless of their experience.
Experts associate the results with the pandemia of the coronaviral infection and believe that it does not reflect the level of burnout, but the “incredible fatigue of teacher”, which has encountered new difficulties, but did not receive stimulating support measures.
According to the supervisor of the Institute of Education of the Higher School of Education Isaka Frumin, in the spring, when the educational process actively switched to a remote format, 80% of teachers complained about the increased load. This was primarily due to the need to quickly master new technologies, as well as with difficulties in their use.
Frumin noted that the emotional state of teachers was also affected by the fact that many of them relate to the risk group for infection, and for teachers during the pandemic, stimulating payments were not provided for, as for doctors.
Professional burnout expert Yuri Shatrov said that teachers face professional burnout more often than representatives of other professions. For example, among business structures, burnout is approximately 50 percent.
