As a child, I read a large book-album about Soviet cosmonautics - from the first flight of Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin to the Salyut orbital stations. I was surprised: despite all the logical numbering of the ships “Vostok”, “Voskhod” and “Soyuz”, “Soyuz-1” and “Soyuz-11” were not in the album. My parents and other adults were unable to explain this mystery, and only later, around the 1990s, did I learn from press publications about the tragedy of the astronauts who died during their return to Earth. But although general information became available, I did not know the details of what happened to these “Unions” for a long time.
