Elon Musk suggested Apple buy Tesla

Tesla founder Elon Musk said that in the past he offered Apple CEO Tim Cook to buy an electric car maker, but he showed no interest. According to the businessman, the company then cost ten times cheaper than now. Now Tesla's capitalization exceeds $600 billion.

With the offer to sell, Musk turned to Cook when Tesla was going through hard times. “During the darkest days of the Model 3 [electric vehicle] program, I approached Tim Cook to discuss the possibility of Apple purchasing Tesla (for one tenth of its current value). He declined the meeting," Musk tweeted .

Tesla introduced the Model 3 sedan in March 2016. The first car of this series was released in 2017. Tesla initially had difficulty scaling up production of these machines.

Reuters reported last week that Apple had finally decided on its automotive plans. The company expects to bring its own unmanned vehicle to market in 2024.
