From the main building of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a little more than a million dollars disappeared in Moscow, REN TV channel said without links to sources. The incident occurred a year ago, but before it was not known about it.

The money disappeared from the office of the leading specialist-expert of the foreign exchange and financial department (VFD) of the Foreign Ministry of Natalia Agaltsova. The loss was found on December 19, 2019, when Agaltsova was supposed to transfer a large amount to the bank.

20 days before, she received one and a half million dollars from the Russian Embassy in Iran. It was a fee for consular services. The embassy could not send money to banking due to US sanctions against Iran, so they were sent to Russia with diplomatic mail. REN TV notes that this practice is characteristic of diplomatic departments not only of Russia, but also in other countries. One and a half million entered a box from the Vodka "Absolute".

On the day of transferring money to the bank, Agaltsova warned the boss that she feels bad and will come to work later. Her office was opened and found a collection bag half -filled in cash. The audit revealed in the Ahaltz shortage of 1.066 million dollars. At the same time, during the previous audit on December 16, all the money was in place. The surveillance cameras showed that on December 18, Agaltsova left the office with two “voluminous bags”.

An employee of the Foreign Ministry was detained. According to her, on December 16, she was instructed to prepare $ 1.38 million for delivery to the bank. She opened the box from under the “Absolute” and, contrary to instructions, began to recall money alone. 150 packs of bills of $ 100 were in the box. But Agaltsova claimed that packs with hundred -dollar bills lay only in the upper row; Below were “dolls”, in which only the upper bills were hundred -dollar, and all the rest were one dollar.

Agaltsova said that she had panicked and decided to cover a shortage from the cash desk, and partly at the expense of her own savings of 200 thousand dollars and a loan of three million rubles. But she was not given a loan. On the morning of December 19, she issued a will on Vasily Makovoz, with whom she lived together, and went to the country. There, according to Agaltsova, she tried to commit suicide, but unsuccessfully. Later she was detained in the country.

Together with Agaltsova, a macozo was detained. He stated that on December 18, Agaltsova arrived at the cottage, said that she had problems at work, and laid out a pack of money on the table. She said that she has 20 thousand dollars and that they must be stored for a neighbor in the country. Agaltsova herself claimed that she transferred 200 thousand dollars to the neighbor. At the same time, the police found only 149 thousand dollars in the neighbor.

Makovoz was released without charges. He switched from suspects to the status of a witness when he said that he did not know about the origin of the money that Agaltsov showed him, and thought that this was her savings. Agaltsova herself is accused of embezzlement. She was in custody, but she was first transferred under house arrest, and then under the recognizance not to leave. The money missing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not been found so far. Checking on a lie detector showed that Agaltsova knows where they are, notes Ren TV.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed the loss of money. “In 2019, the Russian Foreign Ministry discovered the loss of a large amount of cash at the cash desk of the Monetary and Financial Department. In the fact of the disappearance of money, the leadership of the Ministry immediately turned to law enforcement agencies. During the investigation, the prosecution was brought by an employee of the foreign exchange and financial department, ” said the representative of the department of RIA Novosti.

The investigation in the case has been completed, the court will begin on December 30, the Moscow Agency said .
