The authorities of St. Petersburg allowed catering establishments to open winter terraces for the New Year holidays

The authorities of St. Petersburg allowed catering establishments to open winter terraces from December 25 to January 10. The corresponding resolution was signed by the governor of the city Alexander Beglov.

Outdoor furniture can be placed on the terraces. The authorities promised to coordinate the opening of terraces in a simplified manner, but their area should not be larger than the institution itself.

Earlier, the authorities of St. Petersburg banned catering establishments from December 30 to January 3, and from December 25 to 29 and from January 4 to 10 they ordered cafes and restaurants to close at 19:00. In response, the entrepreneurs created a "Resistance Map", which marked bars and restaurants that did not plan to comply with the authorities' ban on working on New Year's holidays.

After the map was published, the security forces conducted a night raid on the bars. In the Commode bar, the police beat employees and visitors with batons, the authorities of St. Petersburg justified the violence on the part of the security forces. On December 10, the owners of the establishments closed access to the "Resistance Map", explaining this by the fact that they managed to "get through" to the authorities.
