Edward Snowden has a son

Former National Security Agency (NSA) employee Edward Snowden has become a father. His wife Lindsey Mills posted on Twitter a joint photo of the couple with a child (his face was covered with emoji).

"The greatest gift is the love we shared," Snowden tweeted , reposting his wife's message.

Edward Snowden and Lindsey Mills have a son, Snowden's lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told Interfax. “The health of the mother and baby is excellent,” he said, without going into details.

The time and place of the child's birth, as well as his name, are still unknown.

• In 2013, Edward Snowden gave journalists information about the NSA and CIA surveillance programs on American citizens. After that, he fled the country and settled in Russia. In the US, a former NSA employee faces 30 years in prison for disclosing classified information.
• In October 2020, Snowden received an indefinite residence permit in Russia. In November, he and his wife applied for Russian citizenship.
