Japan has closed its borders with all countries due to the spread of a new strain of coronavirus. This is reported by the local newspaper "Emiuri Shimbun".
The ban on entry into the country will come into force from Monday and will be valid until the end of January 2021. Foreigners with long-term visas and Japanese citizens who have traveled abroad will be allowed to return to their homeland, but they will have to observe a two-week quarantine after arrival.
In addition, those who come from countries where a new strain of coronavirus has been identified will have to show a negative coronavirus test result at the entrance.
The British authorities announced the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus last week. According to research, such a virus can spread 70% faster than regular COVID-19. Cases of infection with a new strain of coronavirus were found in Denmark, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia, South Africa, Italy , Switzerland , Israel .
Shortly thereafter, Russia and a number of other countries restricted flights to the UK. Flights from Russia were suspended for a week from December 22.
